Try making your very own sweet potato fries! Not only does this save money, but it allows you to control how they’re made so you know what you are putting into your body. Our bodies do so much for us, so we should consider thoughtfully what we feed them. Plus, making your own recipes is rewarding! I find I appreciate what I’m eating much more when I know the time and effort that went into making and preparing it.
Making sweet potato fries is super easy! Just slice a sweet potato, coat a baking sheet with a thin layer of olive oil (or try avocado oil or coconut oil!), and put the slices on it. You can add a pinch of salt and/or vinegar if you’d like and can get creative and add other spices or cinnamon or maybe some herbs. Usually I bake them for about 20 minutes or until crispy.
While we’re at it, let’s substitute something healthful in for ketchup. Why not humus? Or mustard? Or salsa? Or tahini sauce? It’s your dish, do with it what you will!
This is just one example of how you can make a healthy substitution for a snack, while keeping the delicious taste! Eat up!
